Derek Higgins - a short c.v.

Derek Higgins, Ganymede's technical consultant, has 24 years experience in the telecommunications test and measurement milieu.

From 1991 to 1994 he managed the Cable and Fibre measurement laboratories in BT's Worldwide Networks. In this rôle, he was responsible for the evaluation of metallic cable and optical fibre products corporately purchased by BT. He developed and documented reference test methods for the conformance testing of these products.

Up until 1991, Derek worked in the Cable TV development section of BT. He was responsible for the evaluation of a broad range of system components such as broad band amplifiers, frequency translators, and customers' set-top decoders. Other responsibilities included EMC testing at both the network and component level; development of status monitoring systems; and network system design.

Earlier in his career, he worked in BT's transmission standards group producing quality standards for data transmission services.
