Hi - I have been using Crossover with some success with WC for some time but have recently upgraded to version 10.0. This has introduced a small problem which I would like to understand before raising with them.

When using Cut and Splice you get a little pop-up window. If I use one of the audition button, after playing the clip the little window goes blank apart from a single (blank) button and the program hangs. Does the program do anything tricky/non standard at this point which may have triggered the problem. It used to work fine in Version 9 and I want to draft an error report that they will understand.

This is version 3.6R2 of WC

Update: Not having left it for long I hadn't noticed before, but after just over 1 minute, it bursts back into life again - the pop-up window re-draws and the program responds to the mouse again. Activity Monitor doesn't indicate a CPU loop or anything like that.

Hello Rick

Sorry for the delay in replying. No, I'm not aware of reason for this problem occurring. The popup box is just a standard 'non-modal' window. I've just checked on the latest version of wine for Linux and the problem does not occur there.

all the best

Thanks Derek - that gives me something to raise on their forum anyway.

I have raised the problem and had a good conversation with their engineer. They can reproduce the problem using the demo software - but unfortunately can't go any further and raise it with development as it is not a supported product. So the only hope is that some other software will hit the same problem and they recognise the symptoms.

Hi Rick

Thanks for the information. I've been experimenting with "Wineskin", which creates an OSX wrapper around a windows program using wine. You can read about it here. Using the latest wine build (1.3.17) Wave Corrector runs without the problem you reported. So it's an alternative to Crossover that you might like to take a look at. See:

good luck

Hi the recent Crossover update 10.0.3 exhibits the same problem so I will give the other one a go.

You may be interested/relieved to know that Crossover 10.1 has fixed the problem.

Thanks Rick, that's good to know. I hope it will also work with the new beta I'm hoping to produce shortly. Smile
